E.L.F. Cosmetics Aqua Beauty Velvet Touch Eyeshadow Palette in Island Breeze Review and Swatches
Velvet touch, OO LA LA! Today for you Jeaniez I shall be reviewing E.L.F. Cosmetics Aqua Beauty Velvet Touch Eyeshadow Palette in Island Breeze. If you look back on previous blog posts, you will find that I have done one tutorial using the palette, in a cranberry hue! After testing it out now for a WEEK, I have coupled up all my thoughts, and for starters I am amazed. Please note this product was purchased with my OWN money, and all ideas expressed are my own!
Let’s get to the specs! E.L.F. claims this is a “…soft, cushion textured eyeshadow [that] provides radiant color with a dewy finish.” Essentially, you’re getting a fun to touch satin and shimmery mixed palette that creates creamy dimension on the eyelids. Easily colors can be sheer, or amped up to being BOLD as can be! Above are swatches on my skin without any primer.
Aqua Beauty Dual Ended Brush to glide on color, and they also recommend to apply an eyelid primer, however, I am not fond of primers for the eyelids, nor brushes…I’m a smudge and go kinda’ gal. Anyho, when one dips their finger into the palette, an imprint will be left and a squishy texture that is quite fun to feel can be yielded! See the photo shown to your right for those given imprints. The texture felt creamy, yet almost powder like! It instantly reminded me of ColourPop eyeshadows, but creamier! Once applied to my eyelids each color began to turn into a beautiful POWDER and was super easy to blend…even with my fingers. For example, using the cranberry shade I first controlled pigment by blending the color onto my lids, then up into my crease, and I finished up with two layers of pigment on my eyelids for an intense pop of color! One thing I noticed is that due to the creamy nature of this product more than one layer will be needed for optimal pigment, however, that is a small price to pay when it comes to a $12.00 palette.
Since I know packaging is a huge thing for most beauties, this Aqua Beauty product is SOLID. The palette features a glossy soft black casing, with an aqua colored E.L.F. logo with “Aqua Beauty” trailing the bottom. I found it easy to pack in my purse, convenient thanks to the factor a mirror is included, and the colors DO NOT stain (sometimes pinks stain and BOY is that a mess), and lastly, I found the palette to be quite chic for an affordable brand!
Now, E.L.F. also recommends as a tip to apply a light shade to the lids, a medium shade in the crease and a dark shade to line for depth! After testing out this product out it would be impossible to “line” with such a creamy product, however creating that PURFECT smokey eye would be a breeze following that exact method! Overall I view this palette as a beautiful addition to ANY makeup lovers collection and would flat out rate it an 8/10. Pigmentation is solid on each color, and bendability is also solid on each color! I only took off two points for the factor that if one is seeking true matte shades this would not be the palette for them — this is really a palette made for dewy looks and for those more “hands-on”. However, who could resist such beautiful shades, to begin with ;)? Let me know in the comments below your thoughts on this new E.L.F. palette!
