Hi Jeaniez! Today I test out, straight to the point, the new Too Faced Born This Way Matte Foundation, in my shade, SWAN. The foundation retails for $40.00, and according to Too Faced is an "oil-free, [and] 24-hour matte foundation [that] masterfully diffuses the line between makeup and skin." I would like to mention 35 shades are included with a range of very fair, to rich.
In summary, I actually quite liked the formulation! This is shocking since I have dry skin, but I should NOTE I used Natasha Denona FACE GLOW PRIMER, beforehand. I also take pride in a really comprehensive skincare routine, and the night before had on Youth To The People Sleep Mask! I prefer the brush side, as the new BTW (Born This Way) Matte gives a "HOLLYWOOD" glam finish that covers well. The brush, yields control, thus nicer even coverage! Despite this, the sponge did a great job, too, but diminished the purpose of having more coverage, and that flawless look. Formula wise the original is more light, and liquid.
It feels lightweight, a bit tacky for 5 minutes, then dries down. Does not transfer. Difficult to remove with BioDerma, it REALLY STAYS ON, which is exactly the claims, so not mad about that! The color match is perfect. No oxidation. No lingering scent (smells like Mac Fluid for a few seconds). Your shade from the original BTW, more than likely will be your shade for the BTW Matte, just bear in mind, it's the SLIGHTEST tone lighter.
